Party Leader Richard Suchorzewski, Abolish AM Mark Reckless & Abolish County Councillor Claire Mills presented the policy and answered journalists questions.
The main aspects of the policy are:
Abolishing the Assembly/Senedd thereby removing a whole layer of politicians, 60 already in Cardiff Bay shortly to be raised to 90, and saving the £65+ million annually needed to support them
• Giving tax powers back to Westminster, so we can’t be made to pay more tax in a Wales made so much poorer by devolution
• Restoring one National Health Service, so patients in Wales can be treated equally to England, with shorter waiting times and better health outcomes
• Allowing academies and free schools to set up in Wales to offer a better choice of schools,
including the subjects taught and language used

I have never really been a Politically minded individual But Having experienced the inept and futile way in which the Welsh Assembly Government has handled the coronavirus outbreak I find myself getting increasingly angry and frustrated in the way in which this devolved government is failing to handle ANY crisis. They have failed at every hurdle and under the “Leadership” of such an Incompetent egotistical First Minister now leave the people of Wales playing catch up to the rest of the U.K. Mark Drakeford has tried to imposed his political Will upon the Welsh people by using coronavirus as his cowardly excuse. The definition of a leader is to provide a positive vision for others to follow. This cowardly individual has tried to enforce his will in what he says is a “cautious manner” determining each stage of lockdown based on the “scientific data available” . Isn’t that the same scientific data that is provided to the Westminster Government. Ie the Government of the United Kingdom? I am at a total loss to understand how and why Wales is being administered independantly. We left the EU to rid ourselves of a layer of bureaucracy. Why in God’s name have we got this second rate layer of bureaucrats ?
Whatever the outcome coronavirus this Labour club in Cardiff needs to be removed. It isn’t needed, other than by the politically motivated self interested individuals of society. It is a total failure in everything that it gets involved with ,whether that be the M4 relief road, investment in Aston Martin-an up market car manufacturer, Cardiff International Airport, Children and Higher Education, NHS Wales (the funding for the current crisis came from Westminster), regeneration schemes, Promotion of Welsh Farming to name but a few. As I see it Mark Drakeford does not have any qualifications to run a multi billion pound corporation Wales plc. He lacks confidence, has no vision and sits on his hands rather than get hands on. I will follow your newsletters with interest over the coming months and earnestly look forward to your proposals for fighting the 2021 Welsh Election
At last I have found some people committed to sense in Wales! I’m English and moved to Wales in 1984, I can’t wait to move out after this ridiculous pandemic situation where Welsh leaders appear to be exploiting the situation to work towards a split from the UK. I have never before felt that I am imprisoned in Wales and that the Primeval Minister is not really my leader. It is confusing, upsetting and a catastrophic situation.
This is a cogently argued piece to which I can lend my full and wholehearted support. I would be happy to campaign for the Abolish The Assembly Party in Pembrokeshire and would even be prepared to become a candidate if there were a vacancy!
In any case, I wish you all the best,
Alan
I have to admit that as a non-Welsh speaker but born and bred in Wales, I feel like a stranger in my own country. There seems to be a CABAL of some kind at work that seems hell bent on identity politics. If you’re ‘truly Welsh’ you should/must be able to speak the language fluently. Your reward will be a ‘seat at the table’ metaphorically speaking.
I do not now, nor have I ever, voted for or supported devolution. If anything, the Covid-19 outbreak has served to strengthen that view. Whether others agree with me or not (and you are entitled to disagree), I have found a situation where the British Prime Minister stands up and issues guidance to the country on Covid-19, then I have to find out what our own ‘Leader’ has to say on the subject. (I would venture to suggest that a high percentage if people living in Wales/born in Wales , would not have been able to tell you his name pre-Civid).
What happens in time of war (God forbid), I wonder? Would be really all be tiny little nations fighting against each other rather than uniting against a common enemy?
You have my vote, and I’ll be spreading the word
So proud to be Welsh.
So ashamed of the shambles of the Assembly that purports to represent us.
Mark Drakeford is driving Wales into the ground. Let’s work to get the labour block vote to think again about the madness of spending millions of a useless layer of government that is driven by a militant Welsh puritanical attention seeker.
We need to close down the Assembly before it closes down Wales.
If there is a candidate in my area (Conwy, North Wales) at the next election, he/she has my vote. I’m saddened seeing the Assembly’s increasing powers and ineptitude. The only way out of this mess is to push for another referendum on the continuation of the Assembly. They are nothing but a drain on funds and resources!!
Keep up the good work
Neil
Cognisant of the current pandemic climate we’re living through it was encouraging to hear the First Minister say that he’ll be doing everything he can to ensure that the May elections take place.
As we’re already in the latter half of January, in time terms there is only a small window of opportunity remaining to make people aware that there is a party that would see the white elephant that is the Welsh Assembly abolished, saving countless millions of wasted expenditure which could be redistributed to begin the recovery of our NHS, education, and indeed just about every other aspect of daily life for which Wales has fallen further behind the rest of the UK in the 21 years that the Senedd has been ‘governing ‘.
My call is to the abolish party to step up to the plate and get the message out to the Welsh public that they can reverse this downward trend. People need to know the abolish party exists and who to vote for.
In these strange times people can now clearly see the differences between home nations and this presents a great opportunity which may be the best the abolish party has ever had or will ever have to get the support needed to dismantle and abolish the Welsh Assembly.
I’m very proud Welshman we deserve a lot better. The Welsh Assembly is not fit for purpose. A First Minister who thinks its a good idea to slow down the vaccine distribution and a health minster who doesn’t know how many over 80’s have been vaccinated.
If we were measure the performance of the Assembly against any of its KPI’s , Education, Housing ,Transport and of cause Health its a total failure with a performance level lower than any other part of the UK, even Northern Ireland have a better outcome and they didn’t have an assembly for 3 years until January 2020.
Enough is enough, there’s no point in just complaining or grumbling. I now want to take action with others to save Wales and the welsh people from the assembly.
